Builders / Allied Trades

We can arrange cover for all builders and allied trades from the single tradesman to the large construction companies. Insurance of contract works and the materials used in the project, whether they be in transit, in storage or forming part of the contract works themselves, constitute a large portion of the overall exposure for building firms and contractors.

Covers Available

  • Public Liability – covers you for any liabilities form a third party (other than your employees) and bodily injury or damage to their property which arises during the course of your business
  • Products Liability – covers you for any liabilities from a third party, which may arise out of any product or materials which may arise out of any product or materials which you sell or supply in the course of your business
  • Employers Liability – covers your employees including part time staff, trainee/apprentices for accidental death, illness, injury or disease sustained by your employee during the course of their employment
  • Contractors All Risks – covers loss or damage to contract works and associated construction/plant/equipment/temporary buildings
  • Engineering Insurance – we can advise you on your legal responsibilities and arrange for inspection services for plant and equipment that requires it.
  • More specialist covers such as non-negligence, inherent defects, and advanced loss of profits can also be arranged.

Benefits can include

  • Explosion and collapse (steam pressure plant)
  • Sudden and unforeseen damage to pressure plant
  • Machinery Transit
  • Engineering Business Interruption
  • Contingent Liability
  • Guarantee and Performance Bonds – contract, performance or surety bonds are guarantees to pay the direct loss suffered by a party (the employer) as a result of a breach of contractual obligations by the other party (the contractor). In essence this means that in the event of default by the contractor, usually as a result of insolvency, the employer will be able to recover the necessary additional costs they incur from the surety up to the level of the bond.
